Trunkey Creek

(10 minutes drive) Trunkey Creek is a tiny rural village on the road to Goulburn with a hotel, school and old wooden church. Remnants of a bygone era can be seen in the old buildings, the crumbling mud cottages, brick chimneys and mullock heaps. However the region produces some of Australia's top quality merino wool and the village holds the Trunkey Creek Wool and Horse Festival each year in October that highlights a tradition that was established in the 1820s

Explore the Golden Age Hotel built in 1869, the Police Station and Courthouse built in the 1870s, and the old general store built in 1879.








Bathurst

(about 1 hours drive) is Australia’s oldest inland city with elegant public buildings. It offers several 19th Century historic houses, motor sports on the famous Mount Panorama racing circuit, a new world class fossil and mineral museum, a regional art gallery and a regional campus of the Charles Sturt University.





Carcoar

(10 minutes drive) is a time-warp to a different era. The third oldest town west of the Blue Mountains, Carcoar was established in about 1838 to provide protection to local settlers from bushrangers. It contains many buildings from about 1830 onwards including the impressive Court House (1841) and an Edmond Blacket Church (1849). Self guided walking tours are available. The Carcoar Hospital Museum is in the grounds of Uralba the retirement village and was built 150 years ago, it has been able to preserve its original equipment.
